Project Overview

The Yanco BESS will be located on the outskirts of the Yanco township. It will enable more efficient use of renewable resources and support the transition to cleaner energy. The Yanco BESS will store electricity during low demand periods and feed it back into the grid at times of high demand, enhancing grid stability, and securing affordable and reliable energy to NSW.

The project is strategically located adjacent to existing energy infrastructure in Leeton. Its proximity to the local substation reduced the need for additional energy infrastructure, helping to reduce costs for the consumer and minimise environmental impacts.

Following a comprehensive assessment through the Independent Planning Commission (IPC), the Yanco BESS was approved on 2 October 2025.

Our approach aims to mitigate any project impacts and maximise opportunities for local communities. We are consulting early to facilitate discussions with near neighbours, residents and key stakeholders identify and address potential impacts and opportunities.

We are committed to building a positive legacy, together with the local community. To deliver lasting social and economic benefits, we have signed a Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) with Leeton Shire Council, which will deliver significant community investments in the region over the project’s life.
