The Merredin BESS is located on the outskirts of Merredin in Western Australia’s Central Wheatbelt and connects directly to the local 22kV powerline that connects the zone substation to local houses and rooftop solar. The project stores excess energy during times of high energy generation and releases it back into the grid at times of high demand, strengthening the resilience of the local grid.
