Project Overview

ACEnergy advanced the project to ready-to-build status before transferring ownership to a dedicated asset owner.

The Gnarwarre BESS is a proposed 250 MW Battery Energy Storage System in Gnarwarre, on Victoria’s Surf Coast. Once operational, it will feed energy directly into the 220kV transmission line, stabilising Victoria’s grid and supplying electricity to the region. The project is a step towards meeting the Victorian Government’s renewable energy targets.

The project will create upwards of 70 jobs during construction and we will work with local businesses, accommodation providers, and material suppliers throughout the project. Once operational, the project will create five full-time jobs to operate and maintain the BESS.

Working with the community

We have been engaging with the Surf Coast Shire Council since the early planning stages of the project and sought feedback from nearby residents and communities. We considered and responded to the feedback received, updating our design and agreeing on a new access location for the project.

We will continue to keep the community informed of project progress and impacts throughout its lifecycle. Our project team is available to answer any questions and welcomes your feedback.
