Project Overview

ACEnergy advanced the project to ready-to-build status before transferring ownership to a dedicated asset owner.

The Derby Solar Farm is a 95 MW project near Derby in Victoria’s Murray River Renewable Energy Zone. It was one of six successful projects under the Victorian Renewable Energy Target auction (VRET2), supporting the state in meeting its commitment to achieve 100% renewable electricity consumption for its operations by 2025 and place downward pressure on electricity prices.

Situated on about 270 hectares, it has been designed and landscaped to co-exist with existing land uses and minimal impact to adjacent properties. Extensive landscaping will ensure that the project will integrate into the local environment while optimising energy generation for the region.

The Derby Solar Farm will be strategically located near to the existing Powercor 66kV lines, requiring minimal connection works. It will help ensure electricity is most efficiently transferred from the source facility to service local and regional residents and businesses.

Working with the community

From the early planning stages of the project, we engaged with directly impacted neighbours and the broader community in Derby to seek feedback and identify challenges and opportunities early. In direct response to the feedback received, we implemented design changes which paved the way for a positive partnership with those most directly impacted, and Derby residents more broadly.
